Abstract

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an emotional-release method that combines elements of acupuncture and psychology to help individuals address emotional and physical difficulties. This technique aims to reduce physical and emotional tension by tapping specific meridian points while expressing positive affirmations. EFT, which originated from Thought Field Therapy (TFT), operates on the basis of body-energy theory, emotional conditioning, and neuroplasticity. This article examines the application of EFT in pastoral care and analyzes its compatibility with Christian theological principles. Through a literature review and three case studies, the article demonstrates that EFT can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, trauma, PTSD, and certain forms of chronic pain, as well as diminish negative emotional responses such as deep sadness and aggressive behavior in children. From a theological perspective, several principles within EFT such as the use of constructive speech and anger regulation show alignment with biblical teaching. The article concludes that EFT may serve as a complementary approach within pastoral counseling when practiced ethically and grounded in Christian theological foundations
